Square Enix has announced Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin‘s new expansion but it decided to Rickroll fans first.
The official Stranger Of Paradise website was updated today (June 30) to feature the title and artwork for the upcoming expansion Trials of the Dragon King which is set to launch with the season pass on July 20.
All seemed normal until fans proceeded to click on the “watch trailer” link and were subsequently Rickrolled for no good reason. The website link has since been updated to feature the actual trailer for the expansion, but you can take a look at what it briefly looked like below:

The actual teaser trailer for Trials of the Dragon King features two new figures, but one is very clearly the original Final Fantasy protagonist – The Warrior of Light. They are also featured in the official artwork, complete with the iconic armour, helmet, sword and shield.
From the trailer, it looks like the character will be one of the Dragon King’s trials as well since it shows the main character Jack in battle with the Warrior of Light.
The expansion is the first round of content included in the game’s season pass. Trials of the Dragon King will feature new jobs, weapons, and accessories for the player to access through the all-new areas, stories and challenges that await.
Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin launched in March for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In NME‘s review of the RPG, we said, “Stranger of Paradise is mostly just a mess. When the gameplay works, it works surprisingly well, but that wasn’t often enough to make it fun for its entire runtime. It’s hard to make a judgement on the story, mostly because there isn’t much of a narrative, but it’s even more disappointing because I wanted to spend more time with the characters because they’re far from unlikeable.”
In other news, Nier: Automata is coming to Nintendo Switch.
