‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ director responds to Taylor Swift casting rumour

Taylor Swift - The Eras Tour - Singapore

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy has addressed rumours that Taylor Swift could appear in the film.

The singer has been at the centre of speculation over a potential surprise appearance in the upcoming Marvel film as superhero Dazzler.

However, when asked by Entertainment Tonight about the rumours, Levy replied: “That is hardly confirmed nor denied in this interview. I’m going to literally walk out of the frame and save myself, otherwise Ryan [Reynolds]’s taking a hit [out] on me.”

Speaking about his own attendance of a game to support Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce last year, which helped fuel speculation, the director said: “All that’s known is that I went to a football game, and those hours were well-documented and that’s all I’m gonna say. What can I say? I think intrigue is fun.”

This isn’t the first time Levy has spoken about the rumours, with the director asked about his attendance at the game last October by TheWrap.

“They sure are loud,” he said. “I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see.”

Reynolds himself addressed speculation back in November 2022, saying that Swift was not part of the cast, though he’d be open to her appearing.

“Are you kidding me?” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius.”

Touching upon the intriguing use of the same house the singer used in her ‘All Too Well’ short film in Deadpool & Wolverine promo, the star added: “If we shoot the next Deadpool film in our house, then that would be that location.”

Deadpool & Wolverine will be the third film in the Deadpool franchise, and will see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine.

In other news, Swift has shared her reaction to Ryan Gosling‘s reworked version of ‘All Too Well’ alongside Emily Blunt during his Saturday Night Live monologue over the weekend, in which he themed the song around his Barbie character Ken and her Oppenheimer role Kitty.

“All Too Well (Ryan and Emily’s Version) !!!” she wrote on social media. “Watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version on tour. This monologue is EVERYTHING.”

Swift is preparing to release her 11th studio album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ later this week (April 19).
