Ariana Grande has revealed that she is working on finding dates for a “mini” tour to support her latest album.
The pop star made the announcement during a recent interview, in which she looked back at the fan response to her latest album ‘Eternal Sunshine’ and explained that she hopes to find a way to play the songs live despite her busy schedule.
Arriving back in March, the project marked the follow-up to her 2020 release ‘Positions’, and saw her take a more subdued approach to songwriting, with NME giving the release a glowing four-star review and describing it as a “sophisticated break-up album worth losing yourself in”.
It was also named on NME’s list of the best albums of this year so far, with it being summarised as seeing the singer “reckon with life, love and divorce on a comeback album that’s as inventive as it is intimate”.
Despite critical acclaim and a huge response from fans – particularly to the lead single ‘Yes, And?’ – the singer never shared any plans to hit the road in support of the album. Instead, her efforts have been centred around the forthcoming film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Wicked.
Coming to cinemas in two parts, with the first arriving later this year, the film stars Cynthia Erivo, Grande and Jeff Goldblum, and is an adaptation of the musical of the same name. It tells the untold story of the witches of Oz. A trailer for the film arrived in May.
Speaking about how the plans for the film have taken up a lot of her schedule at the minute, Grande did reveal in the interview that she “still wants” to be able to fit some live shows into the mix.

“I think it’d be a really lovely idea to be able to trickle in some shows in between the two Wicked films,” she said on the Shut Up Evan podcast. “I think there is a version of that which exists.
“It’s definitely, for a multitude of reasons, not going to be a tour in the way I used to tour. It’d be a mini little sampling of shows. I do think it’d be really nice to do that. It’s something that me and my team are working on.”
Although plans for live shows seem to be a long way from being announced anytime soon, if they do get locked in, it’ll mark the first official run of live shows since Grande wrapped up her ‘Sweetener’ tour back in 2019.
The extensive stint saw her share a 32-track live album titled ‘k bye for now (swt live)’, and came after she played her 100th show of the tour in California. The tracklist combined cherry-picked recordings from several dates on Grande’s ‘Sweetener’ tour, including shows in London, Copenhagen, Nashville, New York and more.
The tour saw her break out hits from the 2018 album ‘Sweetener’, as well as her 2019 follow-up ‘Thank U, Next’, plus songs from earlier albums ‘Dangerous Woman’ and ‘My Everything’.
While it doesn’t appear that Grande is working on any new material yet, she has been hinting at an upcoming deluxe edition of ‘Eternal Sunshine’, which will add previously unheard songs to the original tracklist.
“I want to take my time to execute this vision for the deluxe [edition]… Make sure it’s worth the wait and as special as I think it can be,” she told podcast host Evan Ross Katz. “I have specific ideas and I’m going to take my time to make them beautiful and perfect. And then we’ll see. I’ll let it be a surprise but I wouldn’t say any time super soon.”
