Reading Festival 2023

Reading & Leeds Festival 2024 is predicted to sell out this weekend.

The music festival is set to welcome 240,000 fans across Bank Holiday Weekend, with gates opening to general admission punters on Thursday, August 22. Tickets are on sale now for both locations and are available for purchase here (for Reading) and here (for Leeds).

Blink-182Fred Again.. and Liam Gallagher are all scheduled to headline the main stage, with other big names artists on the line-up including Lana Del ReyCatfish & The BottlemenGerry CinnamonRayeFontaines D.C. and 21 Savage.

Melvin Benn, the Managing Director of Festival Republic, has said the festival’s newest additions, namely the “groundbreaking” new stage called The Chevron and The Aux venue for “pioneering digital creators”, are behind its massive ticket sales this year.

“We are delighted that weekend tickets for Reading & Leeds are expected to sell out in the coming days,” he said.

“Reading & Leeds is a pivotal moment in UK cultural calendar and we’re thrilled to mark a new chapter in the festival’s rich history: the debut of the groundbreaking 40,000-capacity Chevron Stage and the Aux Stage that welcomes some of the most popular content creators in the UK.”

Speaking to NME specifically about the Chevron stage, which boasts the world’s first outdoor floating LED video sky canopy, Benn explained the video mesh roof will be “all-encompassing” and “give the artist an opportunity to create in a way that they haven’t done in the past”.

“I also really wanted to have a stage that dance acts, hip-hop acts [and] pop acts could all feel that it was their own” he continued (it’s headliners this year include The ProdigySonny Fodera and Skrillex). “The Chevron is building on the Reading & Leeds logo, and it just happened. We got some inspiration from what was the LS23 stage for late nights in Leeds and wanted to build on that.”

Elsewhere, he noted that acts like Fontaines D.C. and Reneé Rapp are “not just emerging”, but “going through those steps of becoming future headliners”. NME also complied a list of 12 must-see new acts appearing at the summer festival, featuring upcoming rock, nu-metal and pop artists. You can check out the full stage times here.

As far as packing essentials go, those attending might need to bring their raincoats. An early weather forecast for next week predicts sunny intervals with smatterings of rain throughout the weekend.
