It has been ruled that Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan’s cause of death was a cocktail of drugs including cocaine and heroin.
Best known for his work on the soap as Sol Patrick, as well as reality TV shows such as Celebrity Big Brother, Danan died on January 15 aged 46.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned today (March 11) at Avon Coroner’s Court, with senior coroner Maria Voisin setting a provisional date of May 28 for the full inquest hearing, according to a report by the BBC. During the session, Coroner’s officer Alexis Camp told the hearing: “The circumstances are that Mr Danan was found unresponsive at his home address”.
“Emergency services attended and confirmed he had sadly died. A post-mortem has taken place and samples have been removed for further analysis”. The court was then told that the provisional cause of Danan’s death is due to the combined toxicity of heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine, zopiclone, contributed to by benzodiazepine use.
Camp added that the family had no concerns regarding the analysis, and that “no note” was left behind. Statements from the emergency services as well as Danan’s family will be taken, as well as consultation with the local mental health authority.
Following his death, a statement shared from Independent Creative Management said: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old. Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many.
It continued: “His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him. During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues”.
Danan is survived by his partner, Melissa Crooks, and by his son Deniro, aged nine.
